Ethics.

We love and care about snowboarding as much as you. Snowboarding is everything to us. We are not investors out to make huge amounts of money out of snowboarding at the expense of our integrity and snowboarding's dignity. We care about our product and the people who make it, as well as the environment which provides the materials, and because we only want to sell what we would be proud to wear and ride.

We care about how our product is made, what thought is behind it, who made it, how they are looked after, and whether we're using material as safely and as harmlessly to the environment as possible.

At the end of the day we are riders. We love teaching our mates and seeing others shred with big big smiles. It's all about the smile.

Handmade Snowboards

A board that has been hand-made from start to finish, for a snowboarder, by a snowboarder. Or, a board that has been rolled off a production line, created to maximise efficiency and profit.

A board that has been touched by a human hand and inspected by human eyes from start to finish. Or, a board that receives a cursory examination.

A board where every aspect has been tested and tweaked, from the resin, fibreglass, sublimation temperatures and times, to the core and sidewall materials, to ensure a reliable, consistent and high performance board. Or, a board again made to maximise efficiency and margin.

Stay tuned for a pictorial factory tour showing how our boards are made, as well as a video demonstrating the difference between standard ABS sidewalls, and the material we use. Read more here >

Sweatshop Free Clothing.

Is it fair, or cool, that someone on a subsistence wage, working in horrendous conditions, is making your new bit of fashion, so you can pay a lot of money for not much more than some branding, from a brand everyone else is wearing? We don't think that's cool at all, so at Heresy, we really try and use suppliers who can provide sweatshop-free conditions for their workers. This means a decent wage, comfortable and safe work conditions, fair hours, and extra benefits like healthcare. The hallmark of a civilised world is reflected in how we treat those lowest on the pay/social scale. These people deserve respect and a fair wage. So we support suppliers that support this ideal. By supporting us, you are supporting these people too. And that deserves some respect.

By the people for the people.

Remember, we're snowboarders too. We stay at the same places, party at the same places, ride the same runs, fall in the same places, have fun with friends on the same cornices.

Our online community allows you to directly give us feedback on areas you think we're doing well, and in areas where we can improve. We even encourage you to give us design feedback, and submit designs for consideration. You are the brand. You help shape us. You can take pride in the company and personal involvement.

We work with other artists who generally are snowboarders to bring different ideas and perspectives to the brand - we want to celebrate snowboarding's diversity and creativity.

We see a way to do it better. More subtle. The thinking snowboarder's brand. "What's that top? It's rad!" "Oh it's a Heresy." Board and clothing graphics that weren't just vomit-bombed and shipped into shops to sell. Graphics and product that was practical but meant something to us and to the buyer. Brands have sacrificed quality for profit and innovation for safe ground. We never wanted to be safe. We wanted to be different, edgy, always moving, always dynamic. "What's that? You want a catalogue? Nnnnope, get online and check it, we update our range every few months." We never want to stand still. Always evolving. Moving. Changing. Mimicry and competing on margin and market power is the old school paradigm. The new mercenary company pops up here; deploys ideas, disappears and pops up somewhere else. The elusive innovator. We are the Guild of Powder Assassins. We arrive in the night to change things and drop a cat amongst the pigeons then disappear, only to reappear and repeat.

Not available in shops.

We thought long and hard about this. We realised it will make a lot of people in the industry angry. Don't get us wrong, shops have their place. This, however, is not for us.

We are represented locally by representatives at mountains all over the world. These reps believe in Heresy like we do. They're lifties, bar staff, ticket sellers. They're your friends. It is through this grass-roots representation, or online, that you can get our product.

These people can show you the product, and explain why we do what we do. They are your local, hands-on, intimate support and contact. They are encouraged to support locally, to have BBQs, info nights, room parties etc to both inform and thank you.

By operating like this, we can reinvest in the brand and in snowboarding, and keep the price you pay very affordable. This is a symbiotic relationship which provides you with quality product you can be proud of using, whilst supporting snowboarding, and supporting those who make the product and the environment. This is how the world can be. Everyone wins.

We want an army of cheerleaders for a new type of snowboarding company. One that represents you. Is you. You are the army. You are Heresy. Welcome to the Heritocracy.
